Group Evaluation

As a group we worked well there where a few moments where we got confused but we pulled together. When we first started working together we organised several meets to discuss our idea. After our first meet and visit to the Sainsbury’s centre we decided to work on a Greek inspired plat former. We took inspiration from a Corinthian helmet. After finding our influence we looked into how we could make the game different. We thought about using hades as a main character so the game was from a bad guys point of view. After looking deeper into the story of the Corinthian helmet we decided to change our genre. We further developed the game idea into an moba (massive online battle arena) using league of legends, dota and infinite crisis.
Once we had the idea set we all got together twice a week in the su bar to develop ideas and help each other out while covering different parts for the project. We set tasks to each group member trying to work on their strengths. Matt was set the task to do the art work for the characters, lanes, environments and the maps. We gave matt help from David. David’s job was to work on the arcade mode and game screen shots. Beki was in charge of mechanics and hotkeys and Alexi did the story writing and character lore.
We feel that everyone worked up to the tasks that we set and we were even ahead of most other groups. We found working as a group a challenge as we had never done it before. But it was a good experience and we all agree that we would work together again. We were glad and felt lucky that we had a group that communicated and worked well together.

Greek MOBA Characters

Pantheon of the gods (alexi)
Zeus: King of the gods, the ruler of Mount Olympus and the god of the sky, weather, thunder, lightning, law, order, and fate. He is the youngest son of Cronus and Rhea. He overthrew Cronus and gained the sovereignty of heaven for himself. In artwork, he was depicted as a regal, mature man with a sturdy figure and dark beard.
Poseidon: God of the sea, rivers, floods, droughts, earthquakes, and the creator of horses; known as the "Earth Shaker". He is a son of Cronus and Rhea and brother to Zeus and Hades. He rules one of the three realms of the universe as king of the sea and the waters. In classical artwork, he was depicted as a mature man of sturdy build with an often luxuriant beard, and holding a trident.
Hades: King of the underworld and the dead, and god of the earth's hidden wealth, both agricultural produce and precious metals. His consort is Persephone. The screech owl was sacred to him. He was one of three sons of Cronus and Rhea, and thus sovereign over one of the three realms of the universe, the underworld. As a chthonic god, however, his place among the Olympians is ambiguous.
Apollo: God of light. He is the son of Zeus and Leto, and the twin brother of Artemis. They were identified with the sun and moon; both use a bow and arrow. In the earliest myths, Apollo contends with his half-brother Hermes. Apollo was depicted as a very handsome, beardless young man with long hair and an ideal physique. As the embodiment of perfectionism, he could be cruel and destructive.
Artemis: Virgin goddess of the hunt, wilderness, animals, young girls, childbirth and plague. In later times she became associated with the moon. She is the daughter of Zeus and Leto, and twin sister of Apollo. She was often depicted as a young woman dressed in a short knee-length chiton and equipped with a hunting bow and a quiver of arrows.
Athena: Goddess of intelligence and skill, warfare, battle strategy, handicrafts, and wisdom. According to most traditions, she was born from Zeus's head fully formed and armored. She was depicted crowned with a crested helm, armed with shield and a spear, and wearing the aegis over a long dress. Poets describe her as "grey-eyed" or having especially bright, keen eyes. She was a special patron of heroes such as Odysseus.
Ares: God of war, bloodshed, and violence. The son of Zeus and Hera, he was depicted as a beardless youth, either nude with a helmet and spear or sword, or as an armed warrior. Homer portrays him as moody and unreliable, and he generally represents the chaos of war in contrast to Athena, a goddess of military strategy and skill.
Dionysus: God of wine, parties and festivals, madness, chaos, drunkenness, drugs, and ecstasy. He was depicted in art as either an older bearded god or a pretty effeminate, long-haired youth. A later addition to the Olympians, Bacchus was another name for him in Greek.

Hephaestus: Crippled god of fire, metalworking, and crafts. The son of Hera by parthenogenesis, he is the smith of the gods and the husband of the adulterous Aphrodite. He was usually depicted as a bearded man with hammer, tongs and anvil—the tools of a smith—and sometimes riding a donkey. Among his creations was the armor of Achilles. Hephaestus used the fire of the forge as a creative force.
Hera: Queen of the heavens and goddess of marriage, women, childbirth, heirs, kings, and empires. She is the wife of Zeus and daughter of Cronus and Rhea. She was usually depicted as a regal woman in the prime of her life, wearing a diadem and veil and holding a lotus-tipped staff. Although she was the goddess of marriage, Zeus's many infidelities drive her to jealousy and vengefulness.

Earthborn
Heracles:  divine hero in Greek mythology, the son of Zeus and Alcmene, foster son of Amphitryon and great-grandson (and half-brother) of Perseus. He was the greatest of the Greek heroes, a paragon of masculinity, the ancestor of royal clans who claimed to be Heracleidae and a champion of the Olympian order against monsters.
Odysseus: Husband of Penelope, father of Telemachus, and son of Laertes and Anticlea, Odysseus is renowned for his brilliance, guile, and versatility, and is hence known by the epithet Odysseus the Cunning. He is most famous for the ten eventful years he took to return home after the decade-long Trojan War and his famous Trojan Horse ploy to capture the city of Troy.

Lol Character Lore analysis

These notes are for what I learnt about lore writing after reading the charactes backstory
Annie – Lore to be written in a backstory fashion
Cho’gath – write about the world/Location where the character hails from
Fiddlesticks – explain the aura a character gives off
Jinx – Write about their effect on the world
Lucia – Their views on the tournament
Teemo – write about achievements in their history
Thresh – write fighting styles/ weapons
Vayne - Family Background if they have one
Vi – how they are linked to other characters
Vladimir – try making the world sound larger by adding places

Jinx, Thresh and Vi theme song analysis
Jinx – The song is upbeat with with dark lyrics, the song shows off the characters views. The song is also quite hectic which defines the character.
Thresh – The song is dark and haunting like a horror movie soundtrack. Child’s singing which are commonly associated with horror, and sung like a nursery rhyme of warning.
VI – Very mechanical sounding, sung like a teenage rebellious song to explain the character. The lyrics are sung in a sense of true theme song style by having the song rejoice the character

Moba Intro Narration

My tournament has started once again to keep me out of the land of mortals, though time has changed history’s writing of why they do this it is really a way to keep me in my prison. Ten champions are chosen to fight for my appeasement and their own gain, but recently the mortals are begging to use past champions in their games thanks to their new leaps in technology. With well over three thousand years of tournaments having been completed just gives the games more great warriors to be added whether they are mighty warriors whose legends have been passed down through generations or an evil creatures whose legends are told only beside a dying fire. Their power is drawn from the arcane in their blood which gives them mighty powers like gods, but as the years passed and hero’s became legends while monsters became myth’s the mortals lost their magic and can never gain it back. But some mortals have decided to join those legends in the tournament, with their great technology they have made up for losing the arcane and will make these next tournaments quite interesting.
